Guide to Forex Courses for Novice Traders

2015-06-26 10:48:49

Search “forex trading courses” on Google and around 56 million results will show up. However, are these legitimate? These courses are great help for investors who want to know more about forex trading, but novice traders must be really particular about choosing the right one.

Types of Forex Courses

Forex courses are divided into two categories: online courses and individual training.

Online Courses. An instructor or trainer provides several reading materials about foreign exchange, including PowerPoint presentations and eBooks. The online training is divided in three parts: beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Online courses are invaluable especially for people with limited forex knowledge. It can range from $50 to $100.

Individual Training. This hands-on, more specific training is recommended for traders with basic forex training. A mentor, normally a successful trader, will discuss strategy and risk management, and focus on placing actual trades. This is more expensive than online training, as it costs between $1,000 and $10,000.

Before enlisting oneself in a forex course, novice traders, do your own research.

  • Certification - A regulatory body or financial institution certifies trading courses being offered. In the United States, some of the well-known regulatory boards encompassing forex brokers and courses include Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Financial Futures Association, and Chicago Board of Trade.

  • Reputation - Numerous forex trading courses are available on the Internet, but many are mere scams promising instant profit and colossal returns. But remember, trading courses are meant to enrich your forex knowledge, not bolster your earnings. To check its authenticity, read and understand its terms and conditions thoroughly, as well as determine whether its offerings are feasible and realistic.

  • Time and Cost - Trading courses can either require a firm commitment (individual training) or be as flexible as online classes. There is a big difference between the two courses, so carefully examine the time and cost. Individual mentoring is more expensive than an online trading course. Tip: Seek professional advice if you have plans to trade full-time; take an online course if you want to become a currency literate.

There are other ways to learn forex trading. If you are a fast-learner, take advantage of free courses. Reading materials, articles, fundamental and technical analysis, and trading strategies are available on the Internet, of course for free. Make sure it comes from a reliable source though, as good information is scattered.
